What to Expect in a Session
Your journey with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is a deeply personal and healing experience. Here’s what you can expect:
- Eligibility: Before beginning ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, a thorough evaluation by a medical professional is required to determine if ketamine therapy is a suitable and safe option for you.
- Preparation: Our first session will consist of a 60-minute assessment with no ketamine. The second session will be 50 minutes of preparation, also without ketamine. By the third session, we can actually administer the ketamine and proceed with treatment.
- Ketamine Administration: After you’re fully comfortable and ready to start, you’ll receive ketamine, prescribed by your medical professional and guided by me. The ketamine will facilitate a state of deep introspection and openness.
- Therapeutic Exploration: During the ketamine experience, I’ll support and guide you every step of the way, helping you to explore the thoughts and emotions that arise.
- Integration: After the ketamine experience (typically this will last 1 hour), we’ll spend the second half of our session discussing and integrating your insights, helping you apply what you’ve learned to your everyday life and create a continued treatment plan.
